Travel Guide - Marrakesh

If you’re looking to catch some rays of sunshine, experience a different culture and enjoy a vibrant nightlife within 3 hours of flight from London - Marrakesh is the perfect getaway.

Hotel:

Palais Medali

We were invited to stay at Palais Medali, which is 20 mins away from the city centre. It is a private palace with only 10 rooms, a large swimming pool and spa.

What makes Palais Medali unforgettable is its staff with excellent hospitality skills. We were greeted by the owner, Said and the manager Soukaina who welcomed us for dinner and showed us around. Every morning, Abdell the cook would always greet us with a warm smile and prepare an incredible breakfast which we chose to have by the pool and he’d order our taxis.

As it’s a small establishment, you get to know the staff on a personal level. It’s a palace where you feel at home.

Activities:

Jardin Majorelle

Jardin Majorelle is a botanical garden created by the artist Jacques Majorelle in 1923. In the 1980s, it was purchased by Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Berge who worked to restore it. It is a colourful garden filled with vibrant colours and is a must-do for instagram pictures.

Jemaa el-Fna Square

Stroll through textile souks, leather vendors, spice markets and much more. Be ready to bargain. There are many rooftop restaurants with beautiful views where you can enjoy avocado juice with milk (a must-have). For the most adventurous, you can experience different types of street food at night such as snails or sheep’s brain.

Hammam

You can’t leave Marrakesh without having a hammam experience. The masseuse starts by washing you with black soap and scrubs you to remove all the dirt. You’ll be shocked by how much dirt comes off your skin. Then, you can enjoy a relaxing massage and enjoy some mint tea at the rooftop. It is such a relaxing experience and the perfect way to end your holidays.

Restaurants and Nightlife:

L’Epicurien

L’Epicurien is one of the best restaurants of Marrakesh. It has a lively atmosphere any day of the week and you can enjoy performances from midnight. It’s the place to be seen. The food is delicious and we had a sole meunière, which was to die for and tiramisu.

SO Lounge

SO Lounge, located at the Sofitel is a trendy and modern bar located at the hotel’s lush gardens. You can enjoy aperitifs and cocktails and smoke shisha at the terrace, then go clubbing inside afterwards. Expect a young and fun crowd.

We’d be delighted to plan your next trip and book your stay, excursions, restaurants, nightclubs, car transfers, pool parties and much more. Email us sarah@beyondsarah.com to get started.
